We are out!

The holiday period is clearly already a distant memory as events around the world return to their usual pace.

Amid the controversy over tennis player visas, COVID restriction unrest and alleged parties in Downing Street, Bitcoin continues to quietly make progress on worldwide adoption.

Lord Tonga Fusitwa confirmed this week that his country will do so definitely Bitcoin will be installed as legal tender by the end of this year using the legal model in El Salvador. Other countries are continuing to explore the possibility of doing so.

Well, except of course Pakistan which is still bent on banning it, even as their neighbor, India, looks to launch a Bitcoin ETF. In the US, the SEC is still stalling in approving one of those Gensler seems intent on making sure that never happens.

This is a strange move in my opinion. The United States had a competitive advantage through requests from powerful organizations early on, but it has gradually given up by omitting measures to allow the rest of the world to take the lead. Having said that, the noise from institutions, some senators, and some regulators is clearly on the rise, and it certainly could only be a matter of time before the SEC’s hand is enforced.

Meanwhile, Strike was launched in Argentina, allowing instant payments via Bitcoin bars, and the cryptocurrency industry in Turkey continues to thrive as the lira collapses, despite the questionable legal position of its use in the country. But at the end of the day, if you don’t want your employees to use cryptocurrency, you better make sure you have a solid alternative for them not to.

However, governments are not traditionally good at it.

While we’re talking about inflation, inflation in the US has reached a 40-year high at 7 percent, although we know the base rate is definitely higher. In a sign of how weird the markets are at the moment, this was generally seen as positive, apparently based on the view that “it wasn’t eight per cent.” Fabulous.

Finally, if you are lucky this weekend, why not play the lottery? Since two Bitcoin miners went undetected this week when they mined a block while working alone, the lightning strike could be. And in case you were wondering, the odds of doing so are about 1 in 1.4 million.

Keep in mind that the odds of winning the National Lottery are 1 in 45,057.474, so on second thought, this probably isn’t ideal financial advice.

Maybe stack some sats instead?

I wish you a nice week-end!
